In- Class Activities

In- Class Activities

After students have completed the required readings and submitted their reflections, the next step is to prepare to facilitate the in-class discussion. In this section, you will finalize the Google Slides that will be projected during the session.

I highly recommend the following:

  • Review students’ reflections carefully. Analyze their responses to identify emerging language ideologies, recurring themes, and connections to personal experiences. It is especially important to draw meaningful links between students’ lived experiences and broader linguistic and social issues, as this strengthens critical engagement.

  • Adapt the suggested presentations as needed. Feel free to modify the slides to better align with your students’ responses or to guide the discussion in a direction that fosters deeper engagement. The structure provided is flexible and should serve as a framework rather than a rigid script.

  • Print the accompanying handouts. Many of the activities require students to annotate texts, take notes, and engage in close analysis. Having printed materials will facilitate more active participation.

All presentations are organized chronologically according to the syllabus for the curriculum intervention. Always refer to the syllabus to ensure alignment between the lecture requirements and the corresponding class materials.
