Throughout the course, we will cover various linguistic elements through activities that will help you discuss topics related to Spanish in the U.S., the history of Latin American countries, and current issues such as gentrification, discrimination, immigration, and Afro-Latinidad.
We will also explore how these topics are connected to the language structures of power. This will include a brief introduction that will provide you with the necessary tools to complete your final project.
In the last six weeks of the course, we will start working on applying strategies to analyze your Spanish textbook critically.
The syllabus below outlines the weeks when the curriculum intervention will take place, the sociocultural and critical objectives you will develop, and the material you will use to carry out the tasks.
Each week is composed of two classes, and before the class takes place, you have to make sure you have already accomplished the activities.
